Selecting Bar and Wine Rack Furniture Pieces Print E-mail
Tuesday, 01 May 2007
When you think of a wine rack, you usually picture a small, table top unit that holds three or four wine bottles in your kitchen.  But, as collecting and storing wine has become increasingly popular, the variety of bar and wine racks have also expanded. A bar and wine rack is a great option for as serious wine collector, because you can use the bar and wine rack to store not only favorite wine bottles, but also wine glasses, bottle stoppers, and corkscrews.  Everything you need to serve and enjoy your wine can be corralled into a simple bar and wine rack unit.

Many home décor stores offer great options for furniture sized bar and wine racks.  These designs usually have a bottom portion of the unit that is for wine storage, storing a great many bottles at once.  The top half of the unit is usually designed to hold barware, including drawers or shelves for items like corkscrews, and hanging storage for stemware.

A bar and wine rack is a great option if you want you wine collection to be a focal point in a room, as in a corner of your den or the back of your dining room.  Stores such as Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel offer great bar and wine rack options that match some of their most popular furniture collections, so that your bar and wine rack can be an intentional addition to a room rather than a mismatched piece that doesn’t flow with you overall home design.

One downside to a full sized bar and wine rack is that it will take up a significant amount of space in your home.  If you don’t have the room for a full sized bar and wine rack, you can seek out slimmer versions, such as a bar and wine rack tower, or options that are designed to fit into the corner of a room, for example.
